A TRUE PLEDGE
By Roland E. Williams
Her plight has led her down many an avenue.
Having taken the wrong one, she turned away.
Her heart sought only to find that which is true,
But hearts also cling to that which does not stay.
Her body needing fulfillment that is long overdue.
Her mind on a quest for what does not decay.
I have seen those tears shed love too many times.
Her eyes reveal the burden she readily must carry.
I have heard the submission her voice often chimes
The doom and destruction she is destined to parry.
She must evict any and all her true heart-crimes
And let genuine love, in all its bliss, forever tarry
